It was a relief that the English Defence League march of 80 Save-The-Queen-singing-hoodlums were kettled in by the police. For their own well-being, three lines of police provided protection from the impressive 1500-strong glasgow counter-march.
However, most alarming and distressing were the 6 nazi bananas ("Bananazis") who apparently dodged the police's tactically hermetic structures. They ran amok through the streets, assaulting a single isolated carrot. They were heard shouting "Britain has a proud yellow heritage" and there's "no place here for straight orange genes". The carrot was repeatedly pummeled and even ran for refuge into Argyle Shopping Centre followed by chants of "Root them Out! Root them out!". More sinister threats of the carrot being "Diced" or "julienned" were also reported.
This is not the first non-banana to be victimised: some carrots feature on EDL's hitlist website "www.redwatchonline.org" and have been attacked in their homes as a result.

Call for Clown Outing on the day for Fools:

Fossil Fools Days.

There will be a clown mischief-making outing on the Tuesday 1^st of April.

There was talk about us being the Foosil Fools, hungry for hi-carbon-consumption, and thirsting for oozy oily substances… Talk of being travelling, probably in our own personal plane, flown in fresh from Paisley, with many a suitcase that could get in the way of doorways…

There has been mention of Glasgow tour visiting Petrol Stations, Oyal Bank of Scotland, Flight Centres and stop off for a tad of shopping in City Centre.

Envelopping story, costumes and props yet to be decided and finalised…..

So……

If you want to join in, we are scheming our interactions with the outside world at Lansdowne Church (opposite Kelvinbridge underground), this Sunday 23^rd at 4 pm (probably lasting an hour or so).

........................ to be unleashed Tuesday 1st April, daytime, sometime.

(for those who can't be part of the Fossil Fools Chapter, Thursday Sessions always have the heavy creaky Church door wide open for you….)

The organisers on the Couch surfing website have changed plans slightly to
cater for the 1000+ people who are expected.

The UPDATE is now 2:30pm meet in front of the Scotch Monument, we'll have
a briefing and see how many people are showing up. From there, we'll
decide to have the freeze be down Rose St or in Princes St Gardens.

Clownesque Techniques, Physical Theatre & Political Performance with
Glasgow Kiss

Saturday March 15 & Sunday March 16, 10am - 5pm

throughout the weekend, we are hoping to touch on a variety of
techniques, including elements of the Rebel Clown training, other
clown techniques, physical theatre and perhaps forum theatre. It will
be challenging & is for people who want to explore different ways of
using our bodies and minds for nonviolent civil disobedience and
creative colourful ways of alternative living. And it will be
interactive - not just "us" teaching "you", but us all going through
an exciting group process together. And of course it will be a weekend
full of joy, outrageous silliness and frivolous fun. Bring on the
Carnival!

And the training is only the beginning... It is meant to stimulate an
excitement in creative activism, to be explored further in subsequent
practice. We'd like to develop a think tank on how to effectively
apply these techniques in social, environmental & political activism
(so it's not "just" a theatre workshop!!) - we will be having an open
meeting on this at the end of the workshop.
Let's start now - if you want to take part in the weekend and have any
ideas or hopes about what you want to get out of it, please email us!

If enough people are interested, we could extend the weekend until
Sunday evening or Monday morning to all go out together and putting
play into practice. To be followed up by more weekends like this to go
deeper? - exciting potential!

numbers, and please come only if you can make the full weekend
training. if you can't make both days for exceptional reasons, please
contact us.
- the training is absolutely free! Only bring your enthusiasm. If you
need a place to stay in Glasgow overnight, we should be able to

Who do you turn to when you no longer can cycle safely in the city?
The police? The Council? The Prime Minister?
No … we need something bigger. We need the most powerful force to protect our bikes on our journey through the city on the next Critical Mass bike ride. This is why we will be calling upon the All Mighty Lord to bless all of our self-propelled vehicles. Amen! A Divine Intervention will ensure our safety so we will be blessing the bikes with our holly waters, chanting holly hymns from the holly Bike Bible. Hallelujah! For it is the bikes that have been sent down from the heavens to save us and our burning planet. Amen!

Come all, bring your children and your parents, join the merry sounds of the Critical Mass.

Why?

There is a growing cycling culture in Glasgow that is not being addressed by the Glasgow city council. Although the bike is by far the quickest, most efficient and environmentally friendly means of getting around in the city, there are hardly any bike facility, bike lanes are paired up taxis and buses and the list goes on.

Although the city council claims that there are up to “375km of identified cycle route” (http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/en/Residents/GettingAround/Cycling/) the majority of them are no longer than a couple of hundred meters before they get cut by a road, a building, or a parking lot.

What to expect?

Well you should expect a safe and peaceful bike ride with other jolly cyclists, spontaneous interventions and a safe look into experiencing the city on a self propelled vehicle. As well a, a Giant Priest, a sound system on wheels, some weird bikes, a rickshaw, and much much more.

The What?

There is also a fancy dress party organized by Bedlam Boudoir and their incredible costumes. We will have the bicycle stamp on the ride which will allow you a special discount for the party later on. Special points for coming as a religious figure to bless bike and dance at party.
